But that fake "exclusive" article that Torch just posted... what is the point? "It would be cool if these cars existed haha." OK, and?

Clicks and ad revenue?

Did you click on it? He just earned 1/100 of a dollar from your traffic.

I never do this...
...but have you read Torchinsky's articles before?

yeah, and even the ones that are about fake cars he wishes were real are structured like "this would be so cool for xyz reasons" and I usually come away with some little factoid I didn't know previously. But this one, I don't even know why it's annoying me so much, but it is. The tone is strange. It's like it was written by someone else trying to mix Torch's style with The Onion but only getting halfway there.

I also clicked thinking something worth my time would be in the article, and I left disappointed. I didn't look at the byline before, so I guess that's on me.
I just do not get the humor... SO MANY ARTICLES that are basically "hey hey hey kids!!! *honks comically large horn* Look at these ZANY cars *honk*"

Glad I'm not the only one. I saw the byline but the headline and pixelated image made me think it might actually be something interesting. Maybe that's why I'm annoyed.
I get that all the writers have their schticks, but after a while it all gets old. I don't really read DeMuro's regular columns anymore because they all sound the same. I always click when it looks like he's doing something different though, like all that stuff with the cross-country speed record guy. Same with Torch, that Iceland Lada piece was great because he wasn't trying to out-zany anything.

The point you ask for is in the explanation you yourself provided.

I don't like to criticize because 1) who cares what I think & 2) he has a large audience that enjoys what he does... but yes, to quote Austin Powers "that sort of thing isn't my bag, baby".

In my mind, having those thoughts don't really justify turning them into a nonsense article with a clickbait headline on "the worlds largest auto enthusiast website."

But a non-trivial portion of Jalopnik's articles are 'non-sense'. It's been that way since the beginning. It's not really a serious outlet like R&T or Motor Trend, and given the nature of all these gawker blogs, that's not gonna change.

Opened because of clickbait, read, and was annoyed.
